A paradise in the Mediterranean: Illes Balears province
Situation: make up the province of Illes Balears Islands in the Balearic archipelago, which is located in the Mediterranean Sea in front of the coast of the autonomous community of Valencia and the capital city is Palma de Mallorca. It is one of the major focuses of tourists from all over the world.
Municipalities: The majority of the population are concentrated in Majorca and Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera the number of people who live year-round is reduced. In summer the population of the Islands they are doubled.
What to see? Iles Balears province beaches are the main attraction having the Islands and much reminiscent of the Caribbean. It also has a very ancient culture around the countryside and the life in the field as to the tourist boom of the 1970s, the inhabitants lived of agriculture and livestock.
What to eat? Cuisine is full of products that tend to do on the islands such as sobrasada or high quality fish. There are also many very renowned desserts: the ensaimada.
Where to stay? Being a very touristy area you will not have problems to find a place in which to stay during all holidays. Hotels facing the sea, luxurious, more cheap or in the interior of the Islands, offers are many and varied.
How to reach? Palma de Mallorca airport is the most important in Spain, the other islands can take direct flights especially in summer as it is the case of Ibiza. The boat is another option with ferries leaving both Barcelona and Denia in Alicante.
